Introduzione
Il Progetto Ricordi Casa Cares 1962-2015 era proposto dal comitato uscente della casa a dicembre 2015. Si tratta di presentare Casa Cares dalla sua fondazione nel 1962 fino al passaggio alla Commissione Sinodale della Diaconia nel 2016. È uno sforzo comune che ha richiesto tempo per trovare la sua forma incorporando i contributi ricevuti nel corso di molti mesi. Il sito è pensato come strumento dinamico e flessibile, che intende promuovere contatti e facilita lo sviluppo. Chiunque abbia qualcosa da condividere è invitato a contribuire. Sono state ricevute espressioni di apprezzamento, ma ai fini della documentazione più importanti sono le storie specifiche, le riflessioni sulle esperienze personali, la reminiscenza di momenti ed eventi importanti. Le informazioni raccolte saranno una risorsa se un giorno verrà presa una decisione per mettere la storia di Casa Cares in forma di libro.
The Casa Cares Memories Project 1962-2015 was proposed by the outgoing committee of the house in December 2015. The idea is to present Casa Cares from its founding in 1962 until its passage to the Synodical Commission for Social Services in 2016. It is a joint effort that has taken time to find its form incorporating contributions received over many months. The site is meant to be dynamic and flexible collection, promoting contact and inviting expansion. Any person who has something to share is invited to contribute. Expressions of appreciation have been received, but for the purpose of documentation most important are specific stories, reflections on personal experiences, reminiscence of important moments and events. The information gathered will be a resource if a decision is someday made to put the Casa Cares' history into book form.
FASE 1
1962-65 – avvio, foundationIl Pastore americano Robert McConnell e i suoi sostenitori italiani e stranieri fondano Casa Cares. Decine di ragazzi, affidati al pastore, lo seguono dopo i suoi anni di servizio all'Istituto Giuseppe Comandi, istituto per ragazzi gestito dalle Assemblee dei Fratelli.
The American Pastor Robert McConnell and his Italian and foreign supporters found Casa Cares. Dozens of boys, entrusted to the pastor, follow him after his years at the Institute Giuseppe Comandi, a boys home run by the Brethren Assemblies.
FASE 2
1965-70 – evoluzione, evolutionSono anni turbolenti per l'Italia e certamente anche per Casa Cares, traslocata da Villa Favard a Villa Strozzi. Il Pastore McConnell lascia definitivamente l'opera nel 1967.
These are turbulent years for Italy and certainly for Casa Cares, incuding the move from the Villa Favard to the Villa Strozzi. Robert and Marianne McConnell permanently leave the work in 1967.
FASE 3
1971-75 – transizione & chiusura, transition & conclusionUn altro trasloco dalla Villa Strozzi alla Villa I Graffi a Reggello porta nuove prospettive, ma ormai l'epoca dei grandi istituti sta per finire in un'Italia che prospera.
Another move from the Villa Strozzi to the Villa I Graffi in Reggello brings new perspectives, but the era of the great institutions is ending in a prosperous Italy.
FASE 4
1975-83 – pausa, pauseLa Villa Graffi, terminato il servizio per ragazzi, sopravvive anni di limitato uso grazie ad amici che accolgono saltuariamente comunità di chiesa ed altri gruppi.
The Villa I Graffi with the termination of service for children survives years of limited use thanks to friends who occasionally welcome church communities and other groups.
FASE 5
1983-95 – riavvio, restartDopo la donazione della proprietà alla Chiesa Valdese, Casa Cares riprende la mission di ospitalità e di accoglienza come Casa per Ferie aperta a gruppi e anche a singoli.
After the donation of the property to the Waldensian Church, Casa Cares takes up the mission of hospitality and welcomes groups and even individuals as a guesthouse.
FASE 6
1996-2005 – consolidamento, consolidationCasa Cares consolida il suo servizio con gruppi e singoli italiani ed esteri, e sviluppa un'identità come centro impegnato nella cura dell'ambiente inclusa la manutenzione della campagna.
Casa Cares consolidates its service of hospitality with Italian and foreign groups and individuals and develops an identity as a center committed to the care of the environment including maintenance of the farmland, the woods, and the historical buildings.
FASE 7
2006-15 – Fine di un periodo, conclusionUn ciclo finisce con il pensionamento dei Coniugi Krieg e Casa Cares apre un nuovo come foresteria sotto l'amministrazione della Commissione Sinodale per la Diaconia della Chiesa Valdese.
A cycle ends with the retirement of Antoinette and Paul Krieg. Casa Cares continues as a guesthouse under the administration of the Synodical Commission for Social Service of the Waldensian Church.
